Tess Barrett advises employers and employees from all sectors on the full range of employment related issues offering clear and practical advice tailored to meet each client’s needs.
She developed a niche specialism in work related psychiatric injury (stress at work) claims in response to the number of enquiries she was receiving from city workers who had developed mental health conditions as a result of unreasonably excessive workloads. She also has particular expertise in pregnancy & maternity discrimination cases as well as a wealth of experience in TUPE matters providing straightforward advice to employers and employees on this intricate and complex area of law.
Tess moved to London from the South West in 2008 and joined an employment team based in Chancery Lane. Originally called to the Bar she cross qualified as a solicitor so she could maintain a high level of involvement in clients’ cases from beginning to end. It is this personal touch that ensures her clients receive the very highest standard of service and support at, what is often, a very difficult and stressful time for them.
Tess is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and she regularly represents clients in the Employment Tribunal.
In her spare time Tess enjoys the theatre, visiting pop-up restaurants and travel. She loves to entertain friends and family and is an enthusiastic cook.
what our clients say
Tess is a very good communicator. Her calm, professional, and kind manner gave me the feeling genuine care was being taken with my case. The service felt personal rather than making me feel like I was “just another customer”.
I have to say having this case conducted from the beginning to end, it has to be said Tess Barrett was extremely fantastic in both being there when I needed advice, help and support. She actually goes above and beyond with looking after her client. My thanks also extends to Michele who dealt with finance, and again extremely helpful and always available whenever you need any help.
Absolutely blown away by the clear communication and support I received from Tess at didlaw. A very sensitive journey for me but I always felt like I was in the best hands. Thank you for giving me the best advice and always being patient and understanding. Couldn’t have asked for a better outcome. Everything was explained so clearly. Tess understood the situation straight away and I trusted her completely from the moment we first spoke. Jo and Michele were extremely helpful and organised. Fantastic team!.
Every member of the team that I spoke to had such a caring attitude. You are the only solicitors I would recommend.
