Employment Tribunal awards for discrimination in England & Wales are made in accordance with the Vento bands. These determine the appropriate level of compensation according to the seriousness of the discrimination.
For claims presented on or after 6 April 2026 the new bands are as follows:
Lower band
From £1,300 to £12,600
Middle band
£12,600 to £37,700
Upper band
(For the most serious cases)
£37,700 to £62,900
(There is also the possibility for the most exceptional cases to exceed £62,900 but this is extremely rare.)
The level of award is decided by the Employment Tribunal not the Claimant in the case.
