Stress At Work

30 January 2024

Anita acted for an extremely unwell woman who had been denied Group Income Protection (GIP) benefits.  The client suffered from severe vestibular migraines as well as stress and anxiety. While on sick leave, she made an application for GIP benefits, but the insurer denied her claim. The insurer had concluded that her migraine condition was caused by work-related stress, and if that stress was removed, she would be able to carry out her role.

Anita helped the client to successfully appeal the insurer’s decision. She reviewed her medical evidence and arranged for the client to be seen by a consultant neuro-otologist to obtain supportive medical evidence to convince the insurer to reverse its decision. The client received a six-figure payment in backdated GIP benefit payments.  She finally has some financial security for both her and her family.
